Week 5 already… If you’re just joining me and are wondering what you’ve missed, you can check out the last four weeks of this odyssey here.
Historical Background
It’s been over a month of fiddling with wires and capture devices, recording gameplay and re-recording gameplay, and fumbling around with thumbnails. I survived some very creative problems that required some unexpected solutions, and got some great thumbnail advice (aka, to use the program called GIMP) from Greg Leighton over at Flick and Mix. Of course, I’ve also had a slew of wonderful comments encouraging me to keep going, which have been much appreciated!!
Current State of Affairs
I recorded some videos… in the middle of the night…. So some of the commentary sounds like I’m whispering, but I was waiting to see if anyone came by to tell me to be quiet. BUT I have some videos!!
(edit)
Ta da! Excuse me while I check this off my “bucket list”…

The plan (oh how quaint: I still think I can make plans with this project) is to post a few times a week, since I’ll be playing in more than 30 minute sittings, but I haven’t quite worked those bugs out yet. Since I’m still not sure how my “normal” recording schedule will look, I’m taking this opportunity when I have only two subscribers (thanks to The Shameful Narcissist and One Depressed Gamer!) to figure out a sustainable “rhythm” to posting.
Lessons Learned
- Patience, patience, patience. I’m usually pretty patient, but apparently “technology not working” pushes buttons that I didn’t even know I had.
- Keep your eyes focused on the goal. I got myself wrapped up in details (as I tend to do), and started to worry about this or that, but look I made videos and put them up on YouTube. That was the goal. If no one watches them, that’s fine, because I finally got it done. But seriously, if you want to watch them, that’s cool, too.
- I expected listening to my voice to prompt a thought of “I have a voice fit for silent movies,” but it’s not as horribly terrible as I thought it would be, so that’s something, at least. Got some room to grow, but hey, it’s a process.
What’s Next?
I mentioned back in Week One (I think) that I’d post reviews of some of the equipment I’m using. So be on the lookout for reviews of all the tech stuff I’ve been dealing with the past few weeks!
Thanks for sticking with me! Comments are always appreciated, as always 🙂
Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you soon!

Woot! Glad to hear you’ll be broadcasting on a somewhat serious recording schedule. I’m sure your loyal subscriber base will exponentially takeoff soon. 🙂
You have discovered delinquent technology’s greatest weakness: Patience.

Ha you’re too kind. I think I’m better at analyzing video games than I am at commentating, so we’l see how it goes 😉
And yes, patience seems to be its downfall!!!!

“I have a voice fit for silent movies,”
True story: I was going to post a comment on one of your other pieces that said something like “I’ve got a face for Radio *and* a Voice for Silent Movies, so I’m not brave enough to try this, so more power to you for giving it a go!”.
Great minds, etc, etc. 😉

Gotta love those great minds! 🙂 And I’m not nearly brave enough to put my face on my videos like Markiplier or jacksepticeye or anyone – yikes. Having to listen to my voice is bad enough!! haha
But thank you; I’m looking forward to seeing how it goes!

I haven’t found someone I like to watch playing games, but I think you are quite funny and intelligent. So I’m looking forward to watch your let’s play videos 🙂

Haha, great choice of game to start a Let’s Play vid! I am now going to start judging you on your romance options *wiggles eyebrows*. (But no, really, this sounds like it’s going to be fun to watch, haha.)

Thanks! You’ll have to forgive the first few episodes, but I promise they’re getting better 😉 Looking forward to seeing you on other interweb sites!
Sorry to make you watch the same game again… If it weren’t for the imminent release of Andromeda, I would have picked a different game…

Hey, well now that you’ve finally got the first one set up, all the rest should come through easier, aye? All the hard part’s out of the way?
Also, it’s not that egotistical to name your characters after yourself. A lot of it stems from a belief that you are awesome, and that there’s nobody else you’d rather be. It comes from a place of self-love, and enjoying being yourself.
The fact that I often put myself in my character’s shoes and am also a massive egotist should not devalue the above statement. Everyone would name their characters after themselves if they were as awesome as I am!

Thanks for watching!Haha yeah I’ll have to consider that a little more for next time! Maybe I’ll wind up with an army of characters named Athena, you never know…
…although the name “Aether” did cross my mind, and I wasn’t sure why at the time… (haha) 🙂

Mayhaps because it’s a marvelous name that would serve her well.
Would also give her an excellent role model to live up to okay I’m done I’m done.

Awesome! Good luck on getting your regular schedule up! I will subscribe soon once I get a proper account ready. What you’re saying is definitely important though. It takes patience, but as long as you can put out finished products, it’s something to be proud of! I wish you the best of luck! Expect a subscription once I can figure out YouTube, haha!

Thanks! I appreciate the future subscription 🙂
And thank you again. I’m a big believer in finding happiness within, and sometimes that means being able to say, “I did it.”
