A gamer walks into a bar…
…and asks for a Truth.
The bartender turns around and immediately says that they cannot possibly handle that.

Welcome back to Spirits ‘n’ Sprites, a temporary bar set up and maintained by AmbiGaming! In case you missed our last fabulous game-themed cocktail we served up, you can find our special recipes here.
While L.A. Noir is not a game I have played yet (and I admit that this article has pushed it a little higher on my “to play” list), one thing I found fascinating was how the game used motion capture in order to make reading body language an important part of the game. From these movements (and, I suppose, regular ol’ clue-finding), the good Detective Cole tries to decide whether a person is telling the truth, whether he doubts what they’re saying, or whether their words are a flat-out lie.

With this being February and all, I thought about concocting a love potion, but those are slightly creepy if you think about them too hard, so instead I settled on a drink that will, instead, give the person the strength (or the memory loss) to, well, tell the truth.
Possibly still a little creepy, but in less of a “I’m taking away your free will” way and more of a “I’m inhibiting my own good sense” sort of way.
And, just to poke fun at a stereotype, I’m just going to mention that police officers are supposed to like coffee, right?
Please do not attempt to make or partake in these drinks at home if you are underage in your country.
Truth
Core flavor: coffee
Ingredients:
3 oz (90 mL) coffee liqueur
1 oz (30 mL) vodka
3-4 oz (90-120 mL) milk
Pick your favorite crime-fighting mug and mix the ingredients together in that order. You’re a busy detective and don’t have time for complicated mixed drinks.
Just don’t drink and drive, people.
Thanks for coming! Hope to see you next month. I’m still taking requests, so if you have one, let me know in the comments! Otherwise…

Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you soon!
