Happy New Year! Welcome back to AmbiGaming’s Video Game Challenge! Be sure you’re keeping up with the previous days!
With 2017 still brand-y new and with resolutions of self-improvement still burning in our hearts, the video game challenge wants to know:
Day 4: What video game character do you identify most with, or wish you were like?
If I were to take that question as it’s written, I’d get two different characters. The character I identify the most with would be (currently) Samantha Traynor from Mass Effect 3, even though I’ve already written a love letter to her with this list. But the character I’d like to be most like… well, we’ll get to that in a moment.
For the former, I can appreciate being the somewhat dorky girl next door who gets thrown in with all these people who I perceive as much cooler than me, but after much fretting and social awkwardness wind up finding my place (pats self on back). I appreciate that although she’s gay she’s not a stereotype, and likes scented oils and loofahs and can kick your ass at a video game and tend bar with the best of them. She wants someone to come home to, and isn’t afraid to hide her intellect… Even if she’s awkward about it afterward.

We also have similar tastes in (read: the best) dance moves.
But the game character I wish I could be most like would be my Warden from Dragon Age (sigh… don’t you play any other games, Athena??). Yes, but that’s beside the point.
I played Dragon Age: Origin during a very big life transition, and I was incredibly stressed about being in a new job position, a new place, and not having any of my friends or family nearby. I wish I could say I thrived as well as my Warden did when faced with those types of circumstances. I certainly tried. I remember playing the game and thinking that if one little elf could be thrown into such an unfamiliar and isolated situation and do alright for herself, then… well gosh darn it I’d try to do the same.
Besides, I never even saw a dragon, let alone had to fight one.

What video game do you most identify with? Did you ever wish that you could be more like a video game character? Let me know in the comments!
Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you soon!
