Day 13: What game have you played more than five times?

Sigh.

Is anyone surprised, though?

Okay, okay. Here are a two other games I’ve played (and beaten) more than five times:

…and

I know what I like, what can I say?

What about you? What game(s) have you played more than five times?

Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you soon!

  1. All of the Civilization games that I own, excepting beyond the stars. Cities Skylines. Both on PC. Marvel Ultimate Alliance on Xbox. Skyrim. Those are probably my most frequently played, with CIV at the top. Also, Champions online ( a little known superhero MMO)

    1. Those Civilization games are great, aren’t they? An acquaintance of mine really loves them. And I get the feeling you really like the superhero genre!!

      1. I do. My final essay at Uni was on Watchmen, which was a bit outside the norm for a rural university, doing english lit degree.

        1. Nothing wrong with that! Sounds like it was a cool paper

          1. It was a study on the American Dream, and how it was represented in the story. Was fun to write

  2. The original Mass Effect I played through 7 times. And if you count Arcade modes in various fighting games then god knows!

    1. Seven times?? That’s right up there with my Dragon Age: Origins number!! Funny how some games just suck you right in.

  3. for me, Super Metroid, Starfox 64 and Megaman X come to mind. I know there are a ton others but these are easily the 3 I played more than 5 times and can easily do it today and not feel like these games have aged a day.

I find playing current games more than once quite a challenge, games are just so massive these days getting through an initial play through is an achievement for me

    1. Those are great games. And you’re absolutely right about modern games, although I wonder, too, if it’s the games’ lengths *and* those persistent adult responsibilities that hinder second playthroughs… 😉

      1. Lol definitely adult responsibilities get in the way

I’m at fault to, I see so much to do in some games that I try to do every last thing there is sometimes and get exhausted

        1. Yeah those side quests can really cause game burnout sometimes, can’t they?

          1. yup, there comes that point where you just say f*ck it and move on lol

  4. I’m also in the Ocarina of Time camp. I think I’ve played that game over 10 times! Other games I’ve played at least 5 times are Super Mario 64, Super Mario World, The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask, and the Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney trilogy. Funny enough, the last one is a visual novel series, so I consider my numerous replays like reading a good book.

    1. Those are some great games, and I can certainly see why you’ve played them so much! Ten time?! Impressive, sir!

That’s a neat observation about Phoenix Wright. Two for the price of one! And I love Majora’s Mask! Sadly never finished it (I apparently was way too set on doing *everything* on each three-day cycle).

      1. Of course, I’m including each time they rereleased it, which is like 5 or so times. But between those 5 copies, I’ve played each at least once or twice! And Majora’s Mask is one of my favorites. I love it so much too! Hopefully, you can one day finish it. The ending and payoff is so worth it!

  5. Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy VII, The Impossible Game, SMB3, Super Mario World. Some games are like comfort foods. You always come back to them 🙂

    1. Those are some great games. And isn’t the Impossible Game addicting? I like the comparison to comfort foods; maybe that’s the key as to why we play them over and over!

      1. I forgot I have it on my busted phone then I remember lol. I’m still working on the first level though. I even have the music in iTunes so I can listen to it whenever I want. Such an amazing soundtrack.

They really are! You know what to expect from them. It’s like rereading a favorite book 🙂

You like that Dragon Age game? I learn something new every day! 🙂

I have beaten Ocarina of Time, Banjo-Kazooie, and Diddy Kong Racing well over 5 times each. These were the highlights of my childhood, and the reason I’m still a gamer today.

    1. Oh my goodness, Banjo-Kazooie…. Considering how much I love puzzle games, I used to have such fits with that one. I loved it, don’t get me wrong, but for me that game was an exercise in patience… But I’m glad if that was one of the games that kept you gaming!!

  7. #notbatmanarkhamknight XD. No surprise, the entire ME and DA franchise make my list of multiple playthroughs. I’m well on my way to several Dishonored and Dishonored 2 runs. And don’t even get me started on all the Final Fantasy and Fire Emblem playing I’ve done in the past several years…

    1. Haha nice! You sound quite well-versed in some pretty awesome games!! 😉 What about the games sucked you in?

      1. You mean the ones that make me rage quit (which I rarely do)? I don’t talk about those >_> *coughArkhamKnightIsSoHardThocough*

        1. Yeah, those are the ones I meant 😉 Heard it’s a good game, though!

  8. Hmm… I’m not sure how to really answer this. I mean I’ve put hundreds of hours into games like Halo and Destiny but I’ve probably only run through their campaigns a few times at best. Maybe Super Mario Bros. (I tend to play that game all the way through every couple of years) or the original Final Fantasy (I tend to start that game and get about halfway through before I get distracted).

    Liked by 1 person

    1. Wow yeah Halo and Destiny can absolutely take a lot of time, even if you only go through the scripted campaign once. Those are solid games to get lost in, though! I think from a pure hours standpoint, that might “count” as deserving a “long service medal”!

Those older games are always fun to go back and play again, too! 🙂
