Oh my goodness! Such love and flattery from other bloggers! I’m very honored to have been nominated by I Can’t Believe It’s Not Blogger, a very friendly blogger with some great articles and who is definitely worth checking out.
And I’m pretty excited that this is the third time AmbiGaming Corner has been nominated for this award. After all…
The Sunshine Blogger Award is a peer recognition for bloggers that inspire positivity, joy, warmth, and any other emotions you feel when you think about the sun.”
The Rules:
- Thank blogger(s) who nominated you in a blog post and link back to their blog.
- Answer the 11 questions the blogger asked you.
- Nominate 11 new blogs to receive the award (Editor’s note: fair warning: I didn’t do this)and write them 11 new questions.
- List the rules and display the Sunshine Blogger Award logo in your post and/or on your blog.
The Questions:
“What is your all-time favorite sporting moment (personal or witnessed)?”
It’s not a sporting moment, but it was a physical feat. When I was 24, I was diagnosed with scoliosis after a very painful year of not being able to walk (long story). I couldn’t walk down the hall at my job (to the point where my clients – all in wheelchairs – started asking if I wanted a ride), and getting up and down stairs and up and down off the floor was a nightmare. I went to physical therapy, and my therapist told me that I probably wouldn’t be able to do any sort of running or jumping again, at least without hurting myself.
In response, I decided I was going to run a 5K. Because of course I did.
And so, once I was able to walk without pain, and I had finished my therapy, I began training. A year after finishing therapy, my family went down the shore, and… I ran the 2.5 mile boardwalk, only slightly shorter than my 5K goal.
I hadn’t ever run that amount in one go since before the whole debacle with my back, and the thing that struck me was that there was no fanfare, no cheering, no fuss, no muss. There was nothing remarkable about what I had done. After all, I was just another young woman running on the boardwalk that summer morning.
Truth be told, for such an accomplishment (for me) to be seen as unremarkable to the people around me was strangely gratifying. I’ll let you interpret that as you will.
“Which food item would you most like to bring into reality from a film or video game?”
Lembas bread from The Lord of the Rings trilogy.

“In your opinion, what is the greatest episode of The Simpsons?”
I never really got into The Simpsons, so I think whichever episode is your favorite is the greatest one.
“What is your favorite blog post you feel has been overlooked?”
It’s mostly because it’s one of the first ones I wrote, but I really love the choices series I wrote, and over it’s lifetime it’s gotten maybe 75 total views across the three articles.
For the most part, though, I think my articles have gotten the attention that they deserve. I’m sometimes surprised when posts aren’t as popular as I thought they would be, but I can’t really expect everyone to be as crazy about Dragon Age as I am.
“What is your favorite album?”
I actually don’t think that I have one. The type of music I listen to changes with my mood, but I love a variety of artists, from various classical groups, to Jewel, to Peter, Paul, and Mary, to P!nk, to specific songs by too many different artists to name.
“To the nearest thousand, how many cigarettes has the smoking man smoked in the X-Files? (Extra marks for workings out)”
One thousand too many to be healthy for his lungs.
“If there was one message you conveyed with your blog, what would you hope it would be?”
I would hope that people would understand that video games are a viable entertainment medium, and would be more willing to take a look beneath the pixels and programming and see that video games hold up a mirror in which we can examine ourselves and our community.
“If you could sit down and have a beer with any video game character, who would it be?”
Samantha Traynor (with or without cheeky kiss). Or maybe Thane.
Or, you know what? Hawke from Dragon Age II.
Let’s just make it a party, shall we?
“What colour is the most over-rated?”
Chartreuse. It sounds fancy, but it will always be “baby crap yellow” to me.

“Would you rather fight 100 duck sized horses, or one horse sized duck?”
100 duck-sized horses. Ducks are nasty enough at the size they are; I can’t imagine one being horse-sized…
“Is it ethically right for Pokemon trainers to keep Pokemon?”
I guess so. I mean, as long as the Pokemon are okay with it (they’re sentient aren’t they?). Or maybe they’re bred to be okay with being kept. This is like asking if it’s ethical for people who keep dogs and cats as pets.
My Nominees:
Aether from Lost to the Aether – a great blog with something for everyone. Whether you like serious commentary or fun let’s plays (or something in between), Aether injects his sense of humor and sharp intellect into everything he writes. A must read, for sure!
Red Metal from Extra Life Reviews – an insightful game reviewer who has recently started a series asking his readers questions about issues that arise within gaming. I always enjoy reading his opinions and insights into video games, and he’s definitely worth checking out!
The Dragon’s Tea Party – if there is a blog that can bring a smile to my face, it’s this one. I mean, it’s not everyone who can write an article about a bird dating sim that is entertaining, funny, and somehow not creepy. A blog worthy of your time!
My Questions:
- If you could change one thing about AAA gaming, what would it be?
- Do you think pineapple belongs on pizza?
- Is there an article on your site that you would write differently, knowing what you know now? Which one?
- What’s the weather like near you today?
- Do you like pancakes or waffles better?
- Is there anything about your gaming hobby/habits that you don’t like?
- Do you have a preference between JRPGs and western RPGs?
- When does an open-world game begin to suffer from open-world bloat?
- What is the most memorable line of dialogue in a game?
- Quick! You have 3 seconds to grab one game from your collection. Which one to do you grab and why?
- Do you collect anything? What is it?
And, as always, if you want to answer these questions in the comments, please do so!
Thank you again to I Can’t Believe It’s Not Blogger for the nomination! I’m looking forward to seeing the new nominees’ answers, as well!
Thanks for stopping by, and I’ll see you soon,
~ Athena
