Year of the RPG: First Ending

Hi guys!

I’m very happy to report that the Year of the RPG is humming along!

As you know, we started with Chrono Trigger, and after numerous jumps between past, present, and future, I am happy to report that the day has been saved and the timeline has been restored. Or fixed. Or possibly remembered correctly? Hm…

Anyway, with that, the book of Chrono Trigger closes and we catch one last ride in the Epoch in order to travel 16 years into the future (and perhaps hundreds of years into the past) into the world of Skyrim.

But fear not, brave adventurers, companions, and mapmakers. If you haven’t been keeping up, you can check out our introduction to Chrono Trigger here, as well as read letters from some of the brave characters like KoffiChrono, and Lucca, as well as my response to Koffi here.

In a few weeks, keep an eye out for an Interesting Case of… post (linked here when it goes live), as well as some further analyses to be revealed at a later date.

So, to all the companions journeying along with us, and for all the fabulous NPCs cheering from the sides, stay tuned as we delve into the world of Skyrim. You’ll be seeing our introduction very soon!

Have you played Chrono Trigger? Did you like it? Do you think Skyrim can compare? Or do you just have some open-world advice to share? Let me know in the comments!

  1. Congrats!! 🍾

I’ll be lost in Inquisition for a while yet, haha. There’s a fine line between open world and swarm of distracting sidequests, I think. 😛

  2. I’m excited to see your final thoughts on Chrono Trigger and your initial thoughts on Skyrim! I personally prefer the former as I like a concrete narrative and characters with growth and development more than I like open world shenanigans, but Skyrim can certainly be a fun game as well.

  3. Chrono Trigger’s good. Skyrim’s good. But they’re both good in different ways.

As far as advice for Skyrim goes, the biggest one that comes to mind is don’t talk about the sides in the civil war with anyone. Not on the internet, not in person, nowhere. I don’t think the flame wars have died down, even now.

    1. I’d believe that. I don’t talk about it in the game, either, except everyone I’ve talked to in Skyrim sounds positively bored about it. Maybe it’s the voice acting, so maybe I should start asking NPCs about it again and see what the fuss is about…. hm…
